TuitionList makes U.S. college tuition data easy to compare. Nothing here is our estimate — it is official government data, reorganized so you can sort it.
The data
Everything comes from IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System), the survey the U.S. Department of Education requires from every college that receives federal student aid. We access it through the Urban Institute Education Data Portal, which publishes it as a free open API.
Current dataset: 2022. We show published tuition and fees for full-time undergraduates, in-state and out-of-state.
What we add
We group colleges by state and city, sort them by price, and calculate medians and rankings so you can see where a school sits relative to its neighbours. We do not modify the underlying numbers.
What this is not
This is not an official government site and we are not affiliated with the Department of Education, the Urban Institute, or any college. Published tuition is not what most students pay — see each school's net price calculator for that.
